A solar battery is a storage unit that allows you to store the excess electricity generated by your solar panels. This stored energy can be utilised when your solar panels are not generating sufficient power, such as in the evening or on cloudy days, and will ensure you still have energy during power outages.

When your solar panels generate excess electricity, it is directed to the battery for storage. The stored energy can be used when your energy consumption exceeds the solar panel’s current output. This ensures a continuous and reliable power supply for your home, reducing reliance on the grid and maximising energy independence.
There are two types of systems available: AC and DC coupled. Solar batteries store energy in DC form, but to be utilised in your home, it must be converted to AC.Â
With an AC-coupled system, energy is generated and converted into AC by your inverter; if it is not used, it is then transformed by a second inverter back into DC in order for your battery to store it or to be fed back to the grid. Whereas a DC-coupled system flows the energy into a charge controller, which feeds it into the battery, it is only converted to AC when needed. DC-coupled systems are more efficient as the energy is only converted once. However, AC-coupled systems are generally less complex and, thus, cheaper to install.
Installing solar power battery storage in your home in Essex and the south east offers several benefits. Having battery storage ensures that you have access to power around the clock, even during nighttime or periods of low sunlight, providing greater energy reliability and independence. Battery storage systems also provide backup power during grid outages, ensuring that essential appliances continue running.
Several types of solar batteries are available, each with pros and cons. Here are the most common types:
These batteries are known for their high energy density and longer lifespan. They are lightweight and commonly used in solar systems due to their efficiency and reliability.
This is a more traditional and cost-effective option. Lead-acid batteries are widely used in off-grid solar systems but have a shorter lifespan than lithium-ion batteries.
These batteries are gaining popularity in solar applications due to their enhanced safety, stability, and long cycle life. They provide reliable performance and are generally considered a safer alternative to other lithium-ion batteries.
While less commonly used in solar applications, nickel-cadmium batteries offer high energy density and excellent durability. They are known for their ability to withstand extreme temperatures and heavy usage.
Flow batteries, also known as redox flow batteries, have the unique ability to store large amounts of energy. They offer a longer lifespan and are ideal for applications that require continuous and long-duration energy supply, making them suitable for solar systems that require sustained power output.
Each battery type has its advantages and considerations, and the choice depends on specific requirements, such as energy storage capacity, lifespan, safety, cost, and application.

No, it is recommended to have a professional solar installer handle the installation of a solar battery storage system. They have the expertise and knowledge to install the system safely and correctly, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
The lifespan of solar batteries can vary depending on the type and manufacturer. On average, lithium-ion batteries used in residential solar systems can last anywhere from 10 to 20 years. It’s important to check the warranty information provided by the manufacturer for specific details.
Yes, by storing excess energy generated by your solar panels, you can utilise stored energy during peak times or when your solar panels are not producing enough power, resulting in lower reliance on the grid and potential cost savings.
Solar batteries generally require minimal maintenance. However, having them regularly inspected by a professional is recommended to ensure optimal performance. Additionally, monitoring the battery’s state of charge and scheduling regular cleanings of the solar panels can help maintain efficiency.

Thank you everyone at Prime Time Solar for such excellent and very knowledgeable service throughout the whole process of the Solar Panels, from the quote to commissioning the system on installation. I have never received such service like this from any company before, well done and keep up the good work.
The installation was completed within a day and the App setup for us on our phone and time was taken to explain everything to us about the system. very reassuring.
After installation I received an email with a link to their website portal this enabled me to download all the relevant paperwork, from this I was able to sign up to an energy company to sell my excess solar power, shop around as prices vary from 2p kWh to 15p kWh.
I can highly recommend this company to anyone considering having solar panels installed. It’s not very often I say this but I am impressed with this company.
Having had some poor experiences with other companies I was lucky to find Prime Time Solar. Special thanks to Nathan and Conor. Thanks again everyone.

Very professional and reliable service was provided to me with all the work completed in high quality. Peter was flexible in creating PV/ Solar panel unit, meeting to our needs and specifications, the price was competitive as well.
Connor, did a brilliant work in completing the installation. I highly recommend their service with no hesitation. I wish them all the very best.

The team were great to speak to and gave honest advise. The quote was accurate and I didn't have any unprecedented costs. The team were as tidy as possible on the day and were prompt with their timekeeping and communicated throughout the process.
Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
It was a competitive quotation and the work was completed satisfactorily. The reason I gave them a 5star review is that they were the only company (out of 7 quotations) that listened to what I wanted and provided me with as near a match as possible.
The whole installation process was completed and signed off with some very helpful guys doing the work. It turned out that I had room for one more solar panel than was originally planned for and they had no problem in accommodating the change of order.
Also, I raised a slight problem (as I saw it) with two of the panels and their fixings, but I did a bit of DIY and fixed that without any hassle making the changes, or from the engineer- who had the option of objecting, but didn't - and congratulated me on the DIY fix.
I like employing people who listen to common-sense alternatives and don't put obstacles in the way of changing things for the better. I would definitely recommend the solar panel section of this company. I cannot comment on the boiler side, except to say that all contacts were initially made through them, and I found them to be both friendly and helpful.
